Opposite, there is the other side. And on the other side there is the Other... or that frequently fantasised object, which we imagine and project onto, and which seems so close and so distant at the same time.

Using her physical appearance and her geographical position as a means for creating a link, Julia Gorostidi worked with artists from Dieppe and Newhaven to create a series of interconnected portraits that focus on the subjectivity inherent in the representation of others and which question the way in which these people perceive each other.

Made up of 16 collaborative works all representing the artist, and a soundtrack made retrospectively, Cross Pointings uses different mirror effects to draw a subjective but multi-dimensional portrait of these two cities and their inhabitants.

Based between Barcelona and London, Julia Gorostidi is a French/Swiss artist who explores the limits of dualist views in today's society. Mainly concerned with perceptual variations and intersubjectivity, Julia's works often invite the viewer to reflect on authenticity in the construction

and representation of identity.
